Eddie Howe reveals best striker he's ever worked with who's scored 58 times this season while on £75-per-goal bonusEddie Howe has revealed a surprise pick as one of the best strikers he has worked with
The first of those came in the 2010/11 campaign as Bournemouth earned automatic promotion to League One.
During that season, Brett Pitman scored 28 goals in all competitions and finished third in League One's top scorers chart behind Lee Hughes and Adam Le Fondre.
Now Howe has opened up about Pitman's talent as a finisher, heaping huge praise on the Jersey-born forward.
Speaking on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, Salford co-owner Gary Neville asked about how to successfully navigate League Two.
To which Howe responded: "What got us out of League Two was having a goalscorer.
"Brett Pitman, in terms of a finisher, was one of the best I've ever worked with, and we had a solid backline.
"If you have those two in that league, then I think you're going to be successful."
After Howe left for Burnley and Pitman went to Bristol City, the pair reunited at Bournemouth in 2012.

After a six-year romance with Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn is used to internet stans being a little bit catty toward him. Maybe that served as the inspiration for his feline-centric promotion for his new movie with Emma Stone?
Alwyn, 33, shared a still via Instagram on Friday, May 10, from their upcoming film, Kinds of Kindness. He followed the official still with a parody photo of himself and Stone, 35, as cats. The film is Yorgos Lanthimos' follow-up to 2023's Poor Things, which also starred Stone and netted her a Best Actress Oscar earlier this year.
Alwyn and Stone are long-time friends, having worked together on another Lanthimos picture 2018's The Favourite. That relationship hasn't soured in the wake of Alywn's split from Swift, another close friend of the actress (and famous cat lover). Speaking about their time on set, Stone called Alywn "one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet" in press production notes for the movie.
"I love Joe," she shared. "We had to do some pretty dark stuff on this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him."

Alwyn and Swift called it quits in 2023. Their separation and a subsequent fling with The 1975's Matty Healy inspired much of her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department. The album held equal venom for Healy's alleged pretensions as for fans who criticized Swift's choice of partner. A reference to London pub The Black Dog — along with the insinuation that Alwyn is a regular — caused Swifties to swarm the bar looking for her ex.
"I don't want to give too much away, We do have a certain blond regular who frequents, let's just say that," proprietor Lily Bottomley told Sky News.
The reported haunt of Alwyn became decidedly less conducive to a quiet pint, as Bottomley began to sell Swift-themed items (and reported the highest foot traffic the bar has ever seen).
While Alwyn and Swift were together, they kept their relationship as buttoned-up and close to the vest as possible. A source close to the couple told Us Weekly that the intense scrutiny of Swift's fans was a sticking point in their relationship. "Joe is very shy and never liked all of the attention that came with dating one of the most popular singers in the world," the insider said.
The spotlight-averse actor has remained mum about the breakup in the wake of TTPD, even while working with one of Swift's collaborators on the project. Stone is credited with contributing "oddities" on "Florida!!!," featuring Florence and the Machine.

And now Joop's body has been recovered from the water during the search operation.
According to Prague Morning, the body of a man was pulled from the Vltava River yesterday but hasn't officially been identified yet.
Forensic experts are now working to determine the identity of the man.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed that Joop has tragically died and they are supporting his heartbroken family.
A spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Czech Republic and are in contact with the local authorities".
Police of the Czech Republic confirmed that Joops tragically drowned in the water after jumping off the boat.

The force added that "no third party culpability was found."
A spokesperson for the PCR said: "On Sunday evening, the Prague police went out to report the discovery of a body in the Vltava river, near the Štefánikov bridge.
"The police pulled the young man's body out of the water, identified it, and at the moment we can confirm that it was a 29-year-old foreigner who was missing after jumping from a party boat into the water a week ago, saying he was going for a swim.
"Unfortunately, the missing person drowned in the water and no third party culpability was found."
Joop's heartbroken sister Jodie Wilson has said the whole family have been left "heartbroken" in an emotional post on social media.
Sharing the news on Facebook, she wrote: "The family of Joop Sparkes would like to let you know that unfortunately it's been confirmed as Joop's body recovered from the water last night.
</div></div>
"We are all absolutely heartbroken and this wasn't the outcome we had hoped for but like we promised we are bringing our boy home.
"We love you to the moon and back Joopster and you have left the biggest hole in our hearts ever.
"Reasy easy baby bro".
It comes just days after Jodie Wilson said the family looked at employing private detectives to carry out drone searches in the area.
She told the Daily Record: "We walked 24 miles along the riverbanks and the marina. We are also checking along the boats to make sure he's not either on or in the water nearby.
"We have spoken to people and asked if they have seen him, some are lovely and some unfortunately are very evil.
"We are all emotionally and physically exhausted but we've got to keep going. We just don't know what to do anymore and we need answers.
"It just doesn't seem real. We haven't seen police on the water since Tuesday and haven't had any answers so we've called private investigators and we're in discussions with them about drone searches as well as if they can bring divers in."

Charity chief accused of 'putting a PR sheen' on Scotland's drugs crisis | 928Z9D5 | 2024-05-12 06:08:01
A CHARITY chief was accused of "putting a PR sheen" on the drugs crisis after claiming a gritty awareness campaign was too negative.
Campaigners slammed Justina Murray for questioning the "vibe" of billboard ads featuring "sad and weeping" images.

Charity chief accused of 'putting a PR sheen' on Scotland's drugs crisisJustina Murray of Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs
The Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs charity boss hit out at the 2021 Scottish Government campaign, in an appearance before MSPs.
The publicity drive was described as "hard-hitting" by then-drugs policy minister Angela Constance and featured pictures of a man, headed: "No, I'm not well. I have a drug problem."
But Ms Murray told a Holyrood committee: "There's so many more positive views and images we could show of people using drugs safely and people in recovery.
"We should be more generous with that kind of imagery.
"It's all sad and weeping and just a very negative vibe."
We told how cops' figures suggested 1,197 Scots died due to drug use last year.
Last night Conservative MSP Russell Findlay united with a charity working to improve the lives of people affected by drug and alcohol abuse to condemn Ms Murray's views.
He insisted: "The solution to Scotland's drug death crisis is not to put a PR sheen on drug-taking being some kind of positive lifestyle choice. The campaign reflected the painful and miserable reality of Scots living with addiction."
And Faces and Voices of Recovery chief Annemarie Ward hit out: "The notion of promoting positive images of people using drugs, as suggested by Ms Murray, is not only profoundly misguided but also dangerously simplistic.
"Proposing there is a safe way to use drugs, which have devastated countless lives and communities, is not just irresponsible.
<!--End ofBrightcovePlayer-->
"It's an affront to every family who has suffered the brutal realities of addiction."
Last night SNP drugs and alcohol policy minister Christina McKelvie said: "Tackling stigma is a key part of our £250million National Mission on Drugs, making it easier for people to seek help without being judged saves lives.
"Our campaign underlined that a drug or alcohol problem is a health condition and encouraged people to see the personal story behind the stereotype.
"It was created with input from people with lived and living experience."
Crime gang boss once fined for verbally abusing England rugby coach ran drugs ring from prison | 928Z9D5 | 2024-05-12 06:08:01
A CRIME gang boss once fined for verbally abusing then England rugby coach Eddie Jones ran a major drugs ring from behind bars.
Dale Cleeton, 31, was in HMP Edinburgh having been jailed for almost four years in 2021 after being caught with £220,000 of cocaine.

But, this did not stop him being the "driving force" in a mob who planned to flood the capital and the Lothians with the same class A substance.
Cleeton's right hand man on the outside was Calvin Begbie – later guilty in a separate case of using a drone to try and smuggle cocaine and mobile phones into Saughton nick.
The 30 year-old's uncle Fraser Boyd, 51, was also recruited as well as 24 year-old Mitchel Whyte.
But police snared the gang after two unauthorised phones and sim cards were found on Cleeton while he was in jail.
They revealed incriminating messages and photos which eventually led to all four appearing in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow today.
They each pleaded guilty to a charge of being involved in serious organised crime at a number of addresses in Edinburgh and East Lothian.
Cleeton, Begbie and Boyd were remanded in custody, while Whyte had his bail continued.
Prosecutor John Macpherson told how Cleeton was the "leading member and driving force" of the crime clan in 2021 and 2022.
He added: "The control and direction he was able to exercise over activities from a prison cell is testament to his organisational skills and attention to detail.
"There was also the level of respect he commanded from those who worked for him."
This included him getting Begbie to send him photographs of large consignments of cocaine "so he could check them".
The gang were raking in so much cash, Cleeton ordered a money counting machine from jail for Begbie to tally their ill-gotten gains. Cleeton would send Begbie "tick lists" for him to collect money that was owed by others for drugs.
The court heard, at one stage, the mob was making £30,000-a-month profit from the buying and selling of large hauls of cocaine.
But, phones used by Cleeton to run the lucrative operation were seized in HMP Edinburgh.
Begbie was then stopped in his car in June 2022, with bags of cocaine and almost £3,000 among items found in the glovebox.
The class A drug as well as another £5,440 in cash was found in his flat in the capital along with the money counter.
Boyd – who was paid to allow his Edinburgh home to store cocaine – had his flat raided the same day.
He admitted to officers that there was "stuff" in his bedroom. Whyte was held in March 2022 at his home in East Linton in East Lothian.
Lord Arthurson deferred sentencing for reports until next month on all four.

Daughter of one of Scotland's richest men sells luxury home after it was targeted in 'gangland attacks'One of the fires spread to the fence of Jennifer's neighbour at the time, Leigh Griffiths
She has been repeatedly targeted in firebomb and graffiti attacks.
The detached villa had been on sale for offers over £650,000 but documents reveal it has now been sold for £25,000 less.
A sales brochure for the property said: "The accommodation comprises a galleried reception hallway, modern cloaks WC, a spacious luxury open plan kitchen and dining room, a lounge, utility room, four bedrooms, an en-suite and an impressive family bathroom. in addition, there is a cinema room and an office studio."
The house was next door to ex-Celtic starLeigh Griffiths who also sold up and moved.
McLeish, whose dad is railway maintenance millionaire Alan McLeish, has been subjected to a campaign of harassment for the last four years.
In December 2020, she shut down her beauty salon business in Glasgow's Dennistoun after a car was driven into it.
That attack came a month after her Range Rover was blown up on her driveway by a petrol bomb which also set fire to the roof of her home.
When the Range Rover was torched, Griffiths's partner, Caitlyn Melville, was forced to flee the house next door.
In January 2023, vile messages were painted on the wall of the David Lloyd gym in Hamilton, designed to terrorise and humiliate Jennifer while graffiti in Bothwell named her partner.
That happened 12 days after another car was deliberately set alight outside her home.
<!--End ofBrightcovePlayer-->
Last month McLeish was removed from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register following the incident at her Glasgow clinic, House of Aesthetics, in September 2019.
Her client is reported to have suffered a vascular occlusion – the blockage of an artery or vein – after undergoing a procedure with hyaluronic injections.
The complication, which can cause severe pain, occurs when blood is no longer able to pass through a blood vessel.
If left untreated, the condition can result in skin necrosis and tissue death – otherwise known as gangrene.
Elderly dog mauled by crazed 'XL Bully' in savage attack leaving locals scared to leave their homes | 928Z9D5 | 2024-05-12 06:08:01
RESIDENTS in Glasgow have been left scared to leave their homes after an elderly dog was mauled by an 'XL Bully'.
Marion Thomson's 13-year-old pooch Scamp was attacked by an out-of-control and unmuzzled beast at around 1.15am on Sunday, May 5.

Her husband Barry was walking their dog at the time.
They were heading towards some fields on Mossvale Way when the suspected bully pounced on the elderly dog and pinned him to the ground by the neck, Glasgow Live reported.
Barry had to jump on top of both dogs in a desperate attempt to help his beloved pet.
The poorly pooch was rushed to the vets but the wounds on his shoulder couldn't be closed because they had become infected.
Marion now fears he might not survive.
She told Glasgow Live: "It appeared out of nowhere and pinned Scamp to the ground by the neck.
"My husband had to lie across it because he thought it was going to kill him. The attack lasted around five minutes before they could be broken apart.
"They can't stitch him because his shoulder is badly infected, it has to come out first, and the swelling goes down before they can even think of that. We're worried it's going to finish him off, he's 13.
"Even outside of his injuries, it's going to take a long time for him to build up the confidence he once had. He's scared to approach us which isn't like him, he's usually a daddy's boy. He's also not eaten since Sunday."
Marion claims that locals in the Craigend area of the city are scared to leave their homes after two other incidents involving XL Bullies attacking other dogs.
<!--End ofBrightcovePlayer-->
She added: "We've got a two-year-old granddaughter that comes to visit.
"What would happen if it went for her? What would have happened if it had turned on my husband?
"The dog is a danger. Every dog owner here is terrified to take their dog out because of what's going on."
A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "Around 1.15am on Sunday, 5 May, 2024, officers received a report of a dog having attacked another dog on Mossvale Way, Glasgow. Enquiries are ongoing."
In February new laws were put in place to deal with XL-bully type dogs.
Scots owners could beslapped with a £5,000 fine or even JAIL if they don't comply with the strict rules of owning the breed.
From the end of February, it is now illegal to sell, breed, abandon or give away an XL Bully in Scotland.
Any XL Bully type dog must be kept on a lead and muzzled in public.
A ban was imposed in England and Wales at the start of this year after the fatal maulings.

He was diagnosed with a bacterial infection and given antibiotics, according to reports in his native Italy.
But the infection spread to his lungs and he developed pneumonia, it was claimed.
When his family had news of the fact he had been hospitalised, his mother Cinzia, father Fabrizio and aunt Marina rushed to Scotland to be at his bedside.
By the time they arrived on May 1, he was already in intensive care.
Initially, the supercar worker, of Bologna, was still lucid and talking, but then his temperature rose alarmingly.
Mauro is said to have passed away on Friday after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage.
Relatives said his death was a "bolt from the blue" and asked for details of his treatment.
His family said that news of his death was an incredible shock as he was one of the healthiest people around, and was rarely ill.
They said that he was in perfect health when he left and would not have gone on holiday if there had been any sign of illness.
The family are demanding to know whether the therapy initially administered to him by the doctors may have negatively influenced the treatment.
A spokesman for the Italian consulate said that paperwork was being drawn up and will be made available on May 7 after which his body could be flown back home and the date for the funeral set.
Mauro who was originally from Stezzano, in the province of Bergamo, graduated with top marks from the Natta Scientific and Technological High School in Bergamo, and he obtained a degree with honours in Mathematical Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan in 2013.
He then went on to get a Master's degree at the University of Munich and after that a job working for the German carmaker Audi before in 2020 moving to Bologna to work for Lamborghini.
He was passionate about trekking, photography and travel.
NHS Lothian executive medical director Tracey Gillies said: "We are unable to comment on individual cases without the consent from patients or their family.
We would encourage anyone with concerns or questions to get in contact with us directly."

The construction worker, from Galashiels, is believed to have lept into the water while it was near the Charles Bridge but hasn't been seen since.
His girlfriend, Charley Maben, 24, was alerted to his disappearance just hours later.
They have been following the party boat's route, checking buildings and even checking clothes found in the river if it belongs to Joop.
Czech cops have been scouring the area for a week but their efforts haven't found anything.
Joop's sister Jodie Wilson said the family are now looking at employing private detectives to carry out drone searches after they stopped seeing police boats on the water.
She told the Daily Record: "Yesterday we walked 24 miles along the riverbanks and the marina.

Jodie previously told The Scottish Sun how police have alerted authorities in Germany in case Joop ended up further down the river.
She said: "We've looked along the banks and checked in derelict buildings, anywhere he could've crawled into and taken refuge. If he's gone in the water maybe he's become disoriented.
"The police said they're checking hospitals and alerted Germany incase he ends up down the river.
"They've looked at CCTV along the bank where the boat left and came back in. They've spoken to local bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

"We're all just devastated. We keep going through all these different emotions."
A spokesperson for the Czech Republic's national police force was reported as saying: "I can confirm that since early Sunday morning, the Prague police have been searching for a 29-year-old foreigner who, according to the announcement, jumped from a party boat near the Charles Bridge in Prague 1 and has not been seen since.
"In the place where the missing person was last seen, several search operations took place, in which policemen from the river department were also involved, but the foreigner has not been found anywhere yet."
