A "JEALOUS" ex-copper battered a police inspector after he caught him having sex together with his wife outdoors a Screwfix, a courtroom heard.
Gavin Harper, 45, is accused of stalking PC Stephanie Glynn following the breakdown of their marriage.
He bugged her car, took her telephone and hacked her social media, a jury was advised.
Prosecutor Ryan Rothwell stated Harper followed her to the automotive park at 11.45pm in February 2021.
Harper then flew into a rage when he caught her having sex with appearing inspector Andrew McLullich, in his Kia Sportage, Liverpool crown court was informed.
It's alleged Harper was holding up his telephone while shouting: "I've obtained you on film s****ing my spouse."
Mr Rothwell, who described Harper as "jealous" after his two-year marriage broke down in 2020, stated: "Miss Glynn started a sexual relationship however Mr Harper couldn't let go. He obsessed over it.
"He did every part he might to make her life hell, have an effect on her career, and to stop the pair seeing one another.
"One night time, he tracked her to the Screwfix automotive park in Birkenhead. He discovered her and Mr McLullich having intercourse, trousers down, behind Mr McLullich's automotive."
Harper punched him in the face then appeared to seize something from beneath his wife's automotive, which Miss Glynn, 40, believed to be a monitoring gadget.
Mr McLullich scuffled with Harper over the merchandise, and was allegedly struck at the least twice with a torch, leaving him with blood pouring from two deep cuts and needing six stitches.
Mr McLullich had struggled to get out of the automotive as his trousers have been still round his ankles, the jury heard.
Miss Glynn stated she and her new boyfriend had been kissing within the entrance when "one factor led to another".
Talking from behind a display, she added: "To place it bluntly we began having sex. We have been clothed from the waist up but each naked from the waist down."
The prosecutor defined Harper and his wife had been preventing for custody of their dog Maisie.
In the course of the attack, she stated he had a "deranged" look in his eyes and informed her he would "kill the dog relatively than let her have it".
Harper, of the Wirral, informed the drive the pair had been having intercourse on obligation.
The declare was investigated but no further motion was taken.
