Bob Odenkirkand his son,Nate, have something in the works.

While catching up with PEOPLE during the 2026 Saturn Awards at The Universal Hilton in Los Angeles on March 8, theBetter Call Saulactor, 63, exclusively revealed that his 27-year-old son, whom he shares with longtime wifeNaomi, recently wrote a TV pilot for a new comedy.

"I'm trying to get into more comedy," he said. "My son wrote a TV pilot and I really love it so I'm trying to get it made. That would be the most pure comedy I get to do in a lot of time."

Despite pushing for the opportunity to work together, Bob — also dad to 25-year-old daughter Erin — explained that he and Nate have drastically different comedy styles.

"His is a little more precise than mine was," he continued. "I'm a little louder and more crazy. And he wants to observe very small, subtle things."

"He's very good," he added. "He's more like my brother, Bill, writer forThe SimpsonsandFuturama. Nate is more like Bill, his uncle, than me, but I very much appreciate that excellent writing."

In August, theNobodystar admitted to PEOPLE thatbeing an empty nester was a lot for him to get used toas his kids grew older.

"Yes, I can entertain myself with trying to write a good movie, trying to act well in a project," he said. "But there's nothing that meant anything like being a dad to me."

"And it's a little bit hard to get a grip of what I'm doing with myself now that that project… It's not completely over, but the bulk of it is over," he continued at the time. "My kids are 24 and 26, they're very much living their own lives. And yeah, they don't need me."

While Nate has been following in his father's footsteps as an actor and writer, Bob revealed that he never liked visiting his dad on set when he was younger.

"That's Nate, when he was little," theBreaking Badalum said while holding up a throwback photo of him and his son. "I took him to the set. Mostly, he did not like going to sets."

"My kids, especially Nate, was very intimidated by the energy on a set," he continued. "Especially when you're the lead actor or the director, which I was on most of my sets. He just didn't like that his dad was needed by all these other strangers. It made him feel uncomfortable. But he seemed to enjoy that day. We had a monster truck, and he loved seeing that."
