70,000 pieces of outdoor furniture recalled after customers have fingers amputated

A luxury outdoor furniture brand has recalled sun loungers after reports they can injure fingers so badly they need to be amputated. Frontgate issued a recall for 70,000 Newport aluminum and teak chaise lounge chairs last week. 'When adjusting the backrest while seated, the adjustable backrest can unexpectedly descend with force, posing finger crushing and amputation hazards,' the recall notice posted to the Consumer Product Safety Commission read. Frontgate received three reports of customers' fingers becoming trapped between the $1,400 chair frame and its backrest, two of which resulted in partial finger amputations and the other also required surgery.
