BUNGLING welfare chiefs paid more than £230,000 in handouts to prisoners in a yr — and only received 14 per cent of it back.

John O'Connell, of the TaxPayers' Alliance, stated: "Taxpayers might be furious about these bungled benefits funds."
The DWP stated: "Fraud and error in the system stays low, over 95 per cent of advantages are paid appropriately.
"The amount overpaid to prisoners is a tiny fraction, representing zero.0001 per cent of profit spend."
