A BRIT holidaymaker plunged to his demise from a lodge balcony simply hours after proposing to his girlfriend, an inquest heard.

An inquest in Staffordshire heard no one will ever understand how or why the tragedy unfolded.
The inquest was informed Stephen had been celebrating getting engaged with dinner and drinks together with his fiancee in August 2020.
They returned to their third-floor room where that they had been fortunately messaging friends and family concerning the good news.
Stephen's companion was within the rest room when he plunged to his demise from the balcony round an hour later.
The inquest heard Alton Towers employee Stephen had "delicate melancholy" but no history of suicidal thoughts or acute psychological well being illness.
A toxicology report showed he was "heavily intoxicated" at the time of the fall.
Daniel Howe, Staffordshire assistant coroner, stated: "Stephen died because of falling from peak.
"He appeared to be in good spirits. He had proposed to his girlfriend that day and was joyful about it. He made constructive feedback to household, on Facebook, and to other residents on the lodge.
"Why he approached the balcony, I can't decide."
Stephen's sister paid tribute to the vending machine manager, who was affectionately referred to as "Mr Fix-It".
She advised StokeonTrent Live: "He was the nicest individual ever, not a nasty bone in his physique. He was one of the best uncle ever."
