DRIVERS have accused a bungling council of "beautiful stupidity" after "pointless" double yellow strains appeared on a roundabout.
Drivers have been left baffled when the weird markings appeared overnight in Hereford.

Footage show the double yellow lines circle the middle of the grass traffic island on Central Avenue.
Great-grandmother Jenni Gough, 76, who lives in nearby Andrews Shut, says she was "surprised".
She stated: "When you consider the appalling state of the roads, it's astonishing to see money wasted on one thing so pointless as this.
"Who on earth would assume that painting double yellow strains on a roundabout is a good suggestion?
"Even non-drivers would know that. Once I noticed the strains, I used to be surprised."
Van driver John Dixon, 40, fumed: "This city is quick turning into a laughing inventory.
"Do the individuals in control of our roads really assume there are drivers parking their automobiles on roundabouts?
"It's insanity and simply another example of an entire waste of cash."
The strains have been painted in January but have now been removed after Herefordshire Council confirmed a contractor had made an "error".
A spokesperson added it was not "regular" follow to paint double yellow strains on roundabouts.
In a press release, the council stated: "An error by considered one of our contractors led to the strains being put in place.
"Placing double yellow strains on roundabouts just isn't traditional follow and as soon as we realised that that they had been put in place we took steps to take away them as soon as attainable."
The council said that £106 million is being invested over the subsequent 10 years into native roads.
