A MAN who reworked an previous truck into a four-wheel drive banana now speeds along at 85mph – but he gets drenched when it rains.
Steve Braithwaite, who is initially from Oxfordshire but now lives in Michigan, US, began developing the Massive Banana Automotive in 2009.
He built the rolling fruit with an in depth group of associates over two and a half& years working totally on Sundays and the occasional weeknight.
The unique car is built on the chassis of a 1993 Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
At 22ft 10.5in (6.97m) in size and 10ft 2in (three.09m) in peak, Steve's creation holds a Guinness World Report for the 'longest custom banana automotive'.
Beneath the just about two tonne banana's bonnet is a 302ci Ford V8 with a prime velocity of 85mph (136.79km/h).
The engine will get about 15 miles per US gallon (18.01 miles per UK gallon).
Steve began creating the Huge Banana Automotive in Bowling Inexperienced, Ohio, continued in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and accomplished it in Coopersburg.
He used strengthened steel bars, hen wire and polyurethane foam.
These have been sculpted, coated in fibreglass and painted to supply a fruit-like appearance.
The banana automotive holds three passengers seated in a line behind the driving force and price around $25,000 (approximately £19,000).
"I just needed to do probably the most ridiculous thing I might think of and driving a banana round appeared to be probably the most ridiculous thing," the constructor advised Forbes.

"If I'm loaded up with luggage, I get someplace between 13-15 miles per gallon.
"By as we speak's standards, that's terrible, but for a banana, it's superb."
He has driven the Massive Banana Automotive coast to coast and north to south from Michigan to Miami (Florida), Houston (Texas) and Windfall (Rhode Island).
