This afternoon, just after 5pm, officers sadly recovered the body of a 17-year-old boy.

His dying isn't being treated as suspicious and a file can be prepared for HM Coroner, Staffordshire Police stated.

Chief Inspector Mark Barlow, from the Moorlands native policing workforce, stated: "Our ideas and condolences are very a lot with the boy's family at this distressing time.

"Numerous officers and emergency service personnel have been working across the clock and through the night time since this was first reported to us.

"I'd wish to thank the members of the public who revered the cordon and prevented the world while we worked on the scene.

"This can be a tragic case and one which I do know will cause quite a lot of sorrow in the area people.

"Our precedence now's about making sure we will do all the things attainable to help the boy's family."

Witnesses reported seeing officers, firefighters and paramedics at Rudyard Lake overnight.
