Why Winona Ryder Says She's 'Really Proud' of Her Younger 'Stranger Things' Co‑Stars

ActressWinona Rydershared she's proud of her youngerStranger Thingsco-stars because of how they've managed to navigate fame in the age of social media.

In aNovember2025 interview on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast, Ryder, who started her career in Hollywood as a child actor, referenced that many cast members onStranger Thingsgrew up on set. Ryder said she admired how her younger co-stars have handled social media.

"It's such a different world because I didn't grow up with the internet or social media or any of that. I'm really proud of the kids because I watched them each figure out how to take breaks from that," said Ryder, who has played Joyce Byers since theNetflixshow's first season, which premiered in 2016.

She said that her co-star,Caleb McLaughlin, 24, who plays Lucas Sinclair, took a break from his phone.

"I remember like Caleb just turned off his. And he was like, 'God, it's great,'" said Ryder.

During theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast interview, Ryder also said she wants her youngerStranger Thingsco-stars to know that their talent and screen presence are why the show is so successful.

"Netflix is so lucky to have them and they are what made this show what it is," said Ryder in the November 2025 interview.

Ryder also said she felt protective of her younger co-stars because "they were at such a tender age" during the filming of the series.

"It's really important for them to be able to experience those tender years in an environment where they're not getting so much outside noise," said the 54-year-old.

Some 'Stranger Things' Stars Complimented Winona Ryder

In a November 2025 interview withEntertainment Tonight, severalStranger Thingsstars complimented Ryder. For instance,Charlie Heaton, 31, who plays Joyce's eldestson, Jonathan, said Ryder is "very awesome."

"Super generous. She's actually an amazing gift-giver," said Heaton to the publication.

Noah Schnapp, 21, who plays Jonathan's younger brother, Will, also said that Ryder gives thoughtfulgifts. Schnapp shared that Ryder gave him aCherT-shirt after he expressed an interest in the singer, who co-starred with his on-screen mother in the 1990 film,Mermaids.

"[Ryder is] a sweetheart. She's a lot of fun. And she has a lot of interesting stories. She gave me one of her T-shirts from a Cher concert," said Schnapp to the publication.

In addition,Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna, described Ryder as "amazing."

The first four episodes of the fifth and final season ofStranger Thingspremiered on Netflix on November 26.

Jayme Lawsonsays theSinnersgroup chat is buzzing.

The 28-year-old actress shared atThe Running Manpremiere on Nov. 9 that the cast of theRyan Coogler-directed film — which includesMichael B. Jordan,Hailee Steinfeld,Miles Catonand Wunmi Mosaku — is still really busy several months after the film came out.

"Oh, we talk constantly," Lawson told PEOPLE. "The group chats are on fire. It was a lot of [screaming], you know, back and forth with each other [after the Grammy nominations were announced]."

"I love my [Sinners] family, and it's exciting that I get to see them and hang out with them," she added.

The film notably earnedfive nominationsfor the2026 Grammys, though the cast are anticipating that more accolades could follow, including a few Academy Award nominations.

When asked about the film garneringOscar buzzonline, Lawson said, "We were hoping that that would be the case when we were filming, that this wouldn't just stop in New Orleans. And the fact that [the hype] keeps continuing and potentially continues into next year, it's just an exciting, exciting, rewarding feeling."

The Woman Kingstar also noted to PEOPLE that although the cast remains close, their busy schedules mean they can't always keep up with one another's latest endeavors. But they make sure to stay connected in other ways.

"People got children, people got jobs, people got things to do, okay," Lawson said. "We support each other with the voice notes and the text messages."

Sinners, which is billed as a horror film, follows the story of Smoke and Stack (played by Jordan, 38), twin brothers from Clarksdale, Mississippi, who return to their hometown in 1932 after having traveled to Chicago. They try to open up a juke joint, but are faced with unexpected evils.

After its release, the film shot to the top of thedomestic box office, grossing $45.6 million. It went on to take in more than $367 million worldwide over its theatrical release window. It has also hit several benchmarks, including becoming the first horror film to earn an "A"CinemaScorein more than 35 years.

Lawson, who portrays a singer named Pearline in the film, shared a number of photos of herself posing with her costars onInstagramto celebrate the movie's success over the Easter holiday weekend.

She isn't the only star of the film who has sung its praises. Steinfeld, 28, previously shared that her role inSinnerswas one that she "had been waiting for" in an interview withWho What Wearin February.

She also commended the movie's story, which was written by Coogler.

"I read his script and was like, 'Holy s---, this feels like a massive undertaking.' The story is so complex and layered," she wrote in herBeau Societynewsletter in March, adding that she "was so fortunate and honored to even be remotely considered."

Mick Jaggeris mourning the loss of a friend and the acclaimed playwright Tom Stoppard.

United Agents confirmed the heartbreaking news on Saturday, sharing that the award-winning screenwriter passed away "peacefully" at the age of 88 at his Dorset home with hisfamilyby his side.

"He will be remembered for his works, for their brilliance and humanity, and for his wit, his irreverence, his generosity of spirit and his profound love of the English language," the statement reads as cited by theBBC.

After the news broke, the Rolling Stones frontman shared a heartfelt message on social media, joining fellow artists and fans in honoring hislifeand legacy.

In an Instagram post, the rock legend shared a black-and-white photo of Stoppard. He also included their photos together, both looking dapper in sleek suits. The last photo featured Jagger with the late playwright and his wife Sabrina Guinness.

In his caption, the "Satisfaction" hitmaker reflected on their deep bond and fondly called him his "favorite playwright."

"Tom Stoppard was my favourite playwright. He leaves us with a majestic body of intellectual and amusing work. I will always miss him," he wrote.

Jagger's fans also chimed in to pay their respects and to remember Stoppard's greatness in the entertainment industry.

"He was the greatest. 'The Invention of Love' on Broadway was transcendent," a comment added.

"He was a remarkable storyteller and craftsman of the English language," another added.

In addition to themusicicon,King Charles IIIand Queen Camilla also offered their respects to the UK's best known playwrights.

"A dear friend who wore his genius lightly, he could, and did, turn his pen to any subject, challenging, moving and inspiring his audiences, borne from his own personal history,"the Royal Familymentioned in a statement as reported byThe Independent.

Born in Czechoslovakia in 1937, Stoppard and his family fled their homeland during the Nazi occupation, eventually finding refuge in Britain.

He began his career as a journalist in the 1950s before transitioning to writing plays for radio and television.

The renowned playwright and screenwriter is best known forThe Real Thing, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are DeadandJumpers.Co-writingShakespearein Loveis also among his othernotable works.

Moreover, he was also celebrated for his wit and sharp intellect that seamlessly blended with philosophy, politics and humor, a hallmark evident throughout his works.
